Sunscreens

Made up of a unique, vinyl coated polyester, solar screens by Phifer SunTex® and installed by Elite Sunscreens are effective in reducing the absorbtion of heat through the window by about 80-90 percent, and are designed to resist fading and dry rot. Dollar for dollar, the installation of solar screens can prove to be one of the most affordable ways to save money on your power bill each month.

The sun's rays hitting glass will produce about 230 BTU's per square foot of glass, and insulated glass can only reflect a small percentage of these rays. By adding the additional protection of solar screens, far less of those sun's rays will make contact with your glass windows, resulting in far less heat gain in those affected rooms.

The U.S. Department of Energy (http://www.eere.energy.gov) says that shading the outside of exposed windows is the best way to stop heat build-up. External shading is the most effective home treatment method to counter these effects, and shading exposed windows with solar screens can reduce room temperatures by as much as 20 degrees.

Phifer's Fiberglass Insect Screening is woven from permanent glass yarn and coated with a protective vinyl to ensure lasting beauty, color and flexibility. The standard fiberglass screen, the 18 x 16 mesh, is the mesh applied in most windows and doors.
